Abstract
At present, the various anatomic forms of biliary cystic dilatation are reported to occur not only in the choledochus, but in any part of the bile duct between the liver and the duodenum. Moreover, it is interesting that the incidence of
choledochal
cyst with intrahepatic involvement (Todani Classification Type IV-A) was considerably higher than had been previously assumed. From 1970s, the advance of interventional and conventional radiologic techniques contributed to establish accurate
diagnosis
and permit appropriate treatment. We reviewed five cases of choledochal cyst with intrahepatic involvement. And we found the disapperance of intrahepatic bile duct dilatation in 3 cases after cyst excision and Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy, and
such a
change can be explained by pathologic study, according to the amount of elastic fibers in the intrahepatic duct.
